Render project

On June 4, 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the new logistics project BAC East in the cargo zone of Brussels Airport.

Architeam was aanwezig bij deze symbolische start als architect van een ontwikkeling die niet alleen toekomstgericht is, maar ook een bijzondere link heeft met het verleden.

Ground-breaking ceremony for the BAC East project

The BAC East project is part of the broader modernization of the cargo zone at Brussels Airport.

With a site area of approximately 14,000 m², the building will accommodate logistics activities and office functions for established players such as Yusen Logistics and Air Promotion Agencies (APA). The building will include, among other things, a warehouse for APA (± 3,984 m²), a warehouse for Yusen (± 3,162 m²), and one office per floor (± 355 m² per office).

The infrastructure is designed with a strong focus on sustainability and efficiency.

The building will meet the BREEAM Excellent standard, incorporating sustainability features such as solar panels, heat pumps, water infiltration zones, and a timber structural framework.

With this project, Brussels Airport reinforces its ambition to further strengthen its position as a leading European logistics facilities player in the field of air cargo.

EEN LOCATIE MET BETEKENIS

Architeam’s presence on the BAC site extends beyond this project alone. What makes this groundbreaking even more special is the location itself.

BAC East is located directly opposite a building that Architeam realized more than thirty years ago: the office building of Expeditors International N.V. in the Machelen business zone – Cargo 834.

That Architeam is still active on the same site after all these years underlines the continuity in our projects and the long-term collaborations with partners and clients.

This makes this new phase in the development all the more valuable for our team.

BUILDING THE FUTURE, WITH RESPECT FOR THE PAST

The groundbreaking ceremony of BAC East signifies more than the start of a new building. It marks a further step in the development of Brussels Airport and in Architeam’s long-standing presence on this site.

It tells a story of continuity, accumulated expertise, and mutual trust over more than thirty years. With this experience, Architeam remains committed to helping shape a future-oriented and sustainable cargo zone.
